A 4-week series where kids will learn how to live their life in Christ by honouring God, obeying His commands, persevering in tough times, and having an eternal mindset.

Part 1

Key Point: I can honour Jesus with my life

Key Scripture:

But make sure that in your hearts you honour Christ as Lord. Always be ready to give an answer to anyone who asks you about the hope you have. Be ready to give the reason for it. But do it gently and with respect.
1 Peter 3:15 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Know what it means to honour God.
  • Discover how to honour God with their lives.
  • Understand why it is important to live a life that honours God.

Part 3

Key Point: I can follow Jesus even when it’s tough

Key Scripture:

27 Whoever doesn’t carry their cross and follow me can’t be my disciple. 28 “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you sit down first and figure out how much it will cost? Then you will see whether you have enough money to finish it. 29 Suppose you start building and are not able to finish. Then everyone who sees what you have done will laugh at you. 30 They will say, ‘This person started to build but wasn’t able to finish.’

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Discover what it means to “carry their cross” to follow Jesus.
  • Learn how to persevere in their walk with Christ through difficult circumstances.
  • Understand that the decision to follow Jesus requires a lot of consideration and thought.

Part 2

Key Point: I can show love to Jesus by obeying His instructions

Key Scripture:

In fact, here is what it means to love God. We love him by obeying his commands. And his commands are not hard to obey.
1 John 5:3 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn that obeying Jesus’ instructions is how they show love and trust towards Him.
  • Know the commands Jesus wants them to obey.
  • Understand why it is important to live a life that obeys God’s commands.

Part 4

Key Point: I can focus on Jesus because He is my treasure

Key Scripture:

32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn that a life in Christ requires an eternal mindset.
  • Discover what it means to store treasures in heaven and how to outwork it in their daily lives.
  • Understand that their motives for the things they do come from loving Jesus, rather than what they can get from God.
