Kids explore the Kingdom Culture Value of prayer and how disciples of Jesus pray.

Part 1

Key Point: When we pray, we should pray in faith.

Key Scripture:

Jesus replied, “What I’m about to tell you is true. You must have faith and not doubt… …If you believe, you will receive what you ask for when you pray.”
Matthew 21:21-22 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn what faith is and how to pray with faith.
  • Know God may answer our prayers in ways we did not expect
  • Understand why prayers may seem to go unanswered.

Part 3

Key Point: When we pray, we should be praying for what God wants.

Key Scripture:

So don’t be foolish. Instead, understand what the Lord wants.

Ephesians 5:17 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn how to partner their prayers with God’s will.
  • Know God’s will is revealed in the Bible.
  • Understand that praying outside of God’s will may result in prayers that go unanswered.

 

Part 2

Key Point: When we pray, we should be humble in prayer.

Key Scripture:

Being humble comes from having respect for the Lord.
Proverbs 22:4a (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn how to act in humility and humbleness according to the Bible.
  • Know that they can approach God in prayer as their heavenly Father who is the King of Heaven.
  • Understand that the posture of our hearts should reflect the words we speak in prayer.

Part 4

Key Point: When we pray, we should pray with thanksgiving in our hearts.

Key Scripture:

Give a lot of time and effort to prayer. Always be watchful and thankful.

Colossians 4:2(NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Understand the importance of giving thanksgiving to God.
  • Learn how to pray with thanksgiving.
  • Know being thankful is an expression of love and encouragement.
