Freedom is a Responsibility
Learning Outcomes
Kids will learn about the Kingdom Culture value Freedom is a Responsibility. They will learn the freedom we have in Christ, how to steward our freedom to honour God, and how to practically be responsible with our freedom.

Part 1
Key Point: Sin tried to keep me locked up, but Jesus set me free!
Key Scripture:
Once you were slaves of sin. At that time right living did not control you. What benefit did you gain from doing the things you are now ashamed of? Those things lead to death! You have been set free from sin.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
- Understand how sin made us slaves to it.
- Learn how sin separates us from God.
- Know that Jesus set us free from sin by His work on the cross.
Part 3
Key Point: God wants me to be more like Jesus rather than make excuses for sin.
Key Scripture:
You say, “I have the right to do anything.” But not everything is helpful. Again you say, “I have the right to do anything.” But not everything builds us up.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
- Understand that being free from the penalty of sin is not an excuse to run wild and do whatever we want.
- Learn how to identify when we use our freedom as a cover-up for sin and how to respond appropriately.
- Know that we have freedom in Christ to develop a Christlike character.
Part 2
Key Point: I can honour God by being responsible with the freedom He gave me.
Key Scripture:
“Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters.”
Colossians 3:23 (NIRV)
Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
- Understand the meaning of responsibility and how it applies to our walk with God.
- Learn the different responsibilities God gives to followers of Jesus.
- Know how to honour God based on their decisions.
Part 4
Key Point: I can be responsible with the freedom Jesus gave me by putting others first.
Key Scripture:
No one should look out for their own interests. Instead, they should look out for the interests of others.

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:
- Understand how we can potentially abuse our freedoms in Christ when acting selfishly.
- Learn how to proactively be responsible with the freedom they have by thinking of others.
- Know how to identify if they are being responsible with the freedom they have in Jesus
