Part 1

Key Point: The Church is God’s Family

Key Scripture:

The family of God is the church of the living God. It is the pillar and foundation of the truth.
1 Timothy 3:15b (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Know that the Church is not just a building.
  • Understand that Church is God’s family made up of disciples of Jesus.
  • Learn that the only way to be part of God’s Family, the Church, is through Jesus.

Part 3

Key Point: The Church belongs to Jesus

Key Scripture:

After all, no one ever hated their own body. Instead, they feed and care for their body. And this is what Christ does for the church. We are parts of his body.
Ephesians 5:29-30 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn that the Bible describes the Church as a human body.
  • Understand that each member of the Church is required to participate and accomplish their function to facilitate growth.
  • Know that Jesus takes care of the Church like the way people take care of their bodies.

Part 2

Key Point: The Church Shines Bright

Key Scripture:

He did it to bring her to himself as a brightly shining church. He wants a church that has no stain or wrinkle or any other flaw. He wants a church that is holy and without blame.
Ephesians 5:27 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Learn that the Bible describes the Church as being like a bride and disciple of Jesus as lights.
  • Understand the similar attributes between a bride and the church.
  • Know how the Church can practically shine brightly to the surrounding communities.

Part 4

Key Point: The Church exists to serve

Key Scripture:

God planned that those he had chosen would become like his Son. In that way, Christ will be the first and most honoured among many brothers and sisters.
Romans 8:29 (NIRV)

Learning Outcomes
At the conclusion of this lesson children will:

  • Know that God equips the church to serve.
  • Understand that the purpose of the Church is to serve God, other disciples, and surrounding communities.
  • Learn that Jesus gave specific gifts and responsibilities in the Church to equip other disciples for service.
